U.S. Passports with Computer Chips

The Bush Administration has announced that starting in October 2006 all U.S. passports will be implanted with computer chips. These chips will allow government officials to know when you have arrived at a port of entry. Though the State Department claims that the chips “will not permit ‘tracking’ of individuals,” privacy advocates are still concerned citing identity theft as another problem.
