YouTube will start a webcasting service this month in an attempt to take the website’s popularity to a new level by highlighting the talent behind its most popular videos.

YouTube has a fan base in the millions and is ready to add fresh content to keep growing its user base. On November 22, YouTube Live will debut by featuring well known celebrities such as rapper Will.i.Am and singer Katy Pery in addition to the YouTube star like Esmee Denters. For those who are not familiar with Denters, she posted  videos of herself on YouTube where she is singing cover songs, which turned her into an online celebrity.

YouTube is essentially imitating other websites such as Yahoo, AOL, and MySpace, all offering webcasts of original programming. The type of video that has been shown to work best so far is streaming of live music.

For instance, Yahoo Music has managed to sign a deal with Nissan as the sponsor of its tape-dealyed concert series, named ‘Nissan Live Sets’ , which are getting an average of 2 million streams per concert.
