I just purchased a Dell XPS 630 from Best Buy. Comparing Best Buy's configuration (which is not customizable other than adding or changing components after the initial purchase) to the same configuration customized from Dell yielded a price savings of $300-$400 at BBY. Maybe Dell is willing to sell these systems in large quantities to BBY at a big discount. Its certainly a lot cheaper for them to sell 1000 units (or whatever) to one customer than to sell the same number of units individually. I say sneaky bcause it is what it is!!!!! Not sure why dell would stoop this low of selling quality products from online to shady retail chains..maybe i should rethink my purchase for 2008?????
