The Wall Street Journal (subscription required) reports that today Dell will launch an advertising campaign that shifts focus from computers’ tech specs to "more emotional elements," pointing out how computers can be used for video-editing and gaming, etc.

eBay is making it nearly impossible for sellers to request payment through Google Checkout. The online auction giant updated and renamed its Safe Payments policy (now called “Accepted Payment Policy”) this week in an effort to add Google’s new payment service, Google Checkout, to its list of online payment methods not permitted. Apparently, Microsoft has an iPod killer in the works. A portable music device that will download songs to itself wirelessly (rather than having to be transferred through the computer ala the iPod norm now). But if that weren’t enough, Microsoft wants your business so badly that it will let you download for free any songs you’ve already bought from the iTunes Music Store. It will scan iTunes for purchased tracks and then automatically add those to your account. Microsoft will still have to pay the rights-holders for the songs, but the company believes it’ll be worth it. Is this enough to switch from Apple to Microsoft? We shall see…
