Norton AntiVirus 2006 Released

Symantec, the company behind the popular Norton AntiVirus software, announced the release of its 2006 products. Package purchases will begin shipping the third week of October whereas downloads are ready for immediate install, according to Symantec’s website. Firefox vs. Internet Explorer Redux

A ZDNet article titled “Is the Firefox honeymoon over?” claims that Firefox, the popular alternative to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, actually has more exploits and security flaws than Microsoft’s work. This can be difficult to measure, as not all exploits are created equally. In any event, the article is definitely worth a look.

Recording Industry Sues 754 Music Downloaders

Within the last week, the recording industry has sued 754 file-swappers accused of illegally sharing music. The industry has filed over 14,000 lawsuits like this since September 2003. All the more reason to stick with legal downloads.

Maxtor Announces Home-Entertainment Hub

Maxtor recently released a network hard drive for use in home networking. The company has marketed the device as a digital entertainment hub. The idea behind home networking is to be able to share files, music, movies, etc. from one computer to another. While the process can be difficult for the non-technical, Maxtor’s product simplifies the equation.
